Match 6: Saturday 11th September 2010
League v Sheffield United (H) – Blades Blunt Rams
This was another lunch-time kick off, Derby’s 5th different kick-off time this season. The Rams welcomed Sheffield United, under the new management of Gary Speed, to Pride Park. This followed the two week International break, and the disappointment of the QPR result after having dominated the game.
Rob Hulse had since been sold to QPR and Spaniard, Alberton Bueno, had been brought in on a season-long loan.
Derby never got going in this match, which Sheffield United dominated throughout. The Blades took the lead early in the first half when Jean Calve slotted the ball home after it arrived at his feet. United also had a goal disallowed for offside shortly afterwards.
In the second half, United had numerous chances to finish Derby off but failed to do so. Derby recorded one shot on target which came in the seventy seventh minute, when Kris Commons hit his shot straight at the goalkeeper.
A disappointing performance and result but surely things would get better for the Rams.
Final score: lost 1-0
