Scunthorpe United (H) – Rams Send Scunny Packing
Derby were looking to get back to winning ways after the disappointing performance and result at Leicester the weekend before, and they got off to a perfect start after just two minutes.
Thomas Cywka driving the ball, into the far bottom left corner, from close range after a brilliant pass from Alberto Bueno.
The visitors levelled on twenty seven minutes when Jonathan Forte, from just inside the right corner of the box, superbly bent the ball into the far top corner.
Derby were then awarded a penalty after Bueno was tripped. Kris Commons then smashed the ball in the net on thirty-seven minutes.
The Rams doubled their lead in the second half (fifty nine minutes) when Cywka gave the ball to Luke Moore, who, with his back to goal took a touch, turned and superbly lashed the ball into the top corner. Scunthorpe were back in the match.
Gareth Roberts then clumsily brought down Woolford and gave away a penalty. He received a second yellow card and Derby were down to ten men.
O’Connor expertly scored from the spot on seventy five minutes but Derby held on for another home win.
A phrase that wouldn’t be used again too often for the rest of the season.
Final Score: win 3 – 2 “Great Home Win – “
