Derby v Norwich

Match 21  – League.  Saturday 4th December 2010

Norwich City (H) – Derby Freeze in the Big Freeze

The first fixture of December saw freezing snowy and icy conditions.  Only ten football league fixtures survived including the visit of Norwich to Pride Park.

Derby probably wished it had been called off.

Norwich started brightly when Henri Lansbury’s header was cleared off the line early on by Shaun Barker.  Norwich did take the lead on eleven minutes when David Fox’s long range effort hit Shaun Barker’s legs then found its way thorough keeper, Fielding’s legs and in to the net.

Norwich then doubled their lead just two minutes later when Lappin crossed for Grant Holt to head the ball in leaving Fielding rooted and Pride Park stunned.

Derby just simply hadn’t got going but got themselves back in the match when Luke Moore guided Robert’s pass into the path of Commons to slot the ball home on seventeen minutes.

Derby created bags full of chances, most notably from Paul Green and Kris Commons amongst others but just couldn’t find a way through, partly due to some brilliant goalkeeping from Ruddy.  Norwich also had chances but not as many.

Both sides were denied penalties too.  Kris Commons had the best chance when he went past two defenders but somehow Derby went away with nothing.

Their first loss at homes since September, ending a six game winning streak.

 Final Score:  Lost 2-1
