Match 10 – League. Tuesday 28th September 2010
Middlesbrough (H) – Classy Commons
Derby went in to this match with high hopes following the 5 – 0 demolition of Crystal Palace just days earlier.
But it was Middlesbrough who made the best start with Kris Boyd scoring after 20 minutes. Derby were then awarded a penalty when Shefki Kuqi was brought down by keeper, Steele, who only received a yellow card.
Kris Commons stepped up and saw his kick saved by Steele.
Derby were in total control but couldn’t find a goal.
However, they drew level when Shaun Barker headed a corner past the far post right on half time.
Derby then took the lead early in the second half when Commons played a one-two from a corner and bent the ball in to the top corner of the goal.
Derby’s third goal was an exact replica of the second, with Commons again bending the ball in to the top corner after playing a one-two from the same corner of the pitch.
Derby thoroughly deserved the victory.
Final Score: win 3 – 1 – “Ooh I do like this” 🙂
