Match 29 – League. Saturday 22nd January 2011
Nottingham Forest (H) – “Derby” Despair
Derby were hoping to get into some good form and there would be no better time as rivals, Nottingham Forest, came to Pride Park.
Derby’s new signing, Ben Davies (signed from Notts County) started.
However, it would be Forest who would control the match, particularly in midfield, but couldn’t find the net. And it was Derby who had the best chance of the first half when Porter got past Camp but couldn’t beat the defender on the line.
Derby couldn’t really create any more clear chances as Forest started to be the only team who looked likely to score.
The only goal came on seventy nine minutes when former Derby player, Robert Earnshaw’s, low shot trickled into the bottom left corner sinking every Derby fan’s heart.
Dean Moxey was sent off in added time in what would turn out to be his, and Kris Commons, last appearance for Derby.
The win was Forest’s first at Pride Park and they also completed the double over Derby and retained the Brian Clough Trophy, which they had won only less than a month earlier.
Truly a month to forget.
