Derby v Crystal Palace

Match 9 – League.   Saturday 25th September 2010

Crystal Palace (H) – Rams End the Run

Derby went into this match having slipped into the relegation zone following the defeat at Hull four day earlier.

The Rams were also still looking for their first win since the opening day and the first home win of the season.

Luke Moore joined Derby on loan from Swansea.

The Rams made a good start, scoring after fourteen minutes when Alberto Bueno coolly finished his first goal for Derby.

The visitors were down to ten men when James Vaughan (former Derby player) tackled John Brayford with a two-footed challenge and received a red card.

Kris Commons then doubled Derby’s lead after he drove the ball low past Speroni after forty-one minutes.  Bueno got his second goal with a great shot in to the bottom corner on sixty-two minutes.  Six minutes later, Paul Green headed in a Robbie Savage free kick.

Former Derby defender, Claude Davis, gave Derby a gift when is back pass was too short to reach the goalkeeper and allowed Shefki Kuqi to ease the ball home to get his first goal for Derby.

 Final Score: win 5 – 0. – “Brill!”
