If you are disabled and a keen photographer, there’s still time to enter our competition and be in with a chance to have YOUR photographs displayed at an exhibition in London.
Mobility Choice, the charity behind the Mobility Roadshow, and The Disabled Photographers’ Society have joined forces on this new competition with the theme On the Move.
“Whether on your doorstep, in your local area or further afield, we welcome entries that represent what you have seen on your travels. Use your imagination and skill to capture through your camera the image that you believe epitomises the theme On the Move,” said Thomas Molloy, Chairman, The Disabled Photographers’ Society.
Entries are invited in three age categories – under 12s, 12-18 and over 18. Prizes include a Merlin Annual Pass for a disabled person and carer, which provides entry to a range of top UK attractions such as LEGOLAND Windsor and Madame Tussauds for 12 months, plus Calumet photographic accessories.
The competition closes on 15th October 2011. Shortlisted and winning entries will be exhibited at Calumet Photographic near Euston Station in London for four weeks from 7th January 2012, with the prize giving ceremony at the same venue on 11th January.
First DCDS Social of the season tonight, starting off this season with a Quiz Night, so get your thinking caps on.
Doors open at 7.45, committee meeting beforehand so no entry allowed before meeting concludes.
Looking forward to seeing you all again – Tim – Chairman.
Read in the paper today that Robbie Savage is to be one of the contestants in the 2011 – “Strictly Come Dancing” He’s alongside Jason Donavon and Nancy D’ thingy wotsit who used to be Sven’s hip shaker. Will post more details when published – 🙂
We’re getting nearer to the first DCDSC social of the new season, the day (or evening ) has been changed to a Thursday, this is to avoid clashes with both midweek football for the Rams and also TV football.
Social dates for this year 2011 are as follows;
Thursday September 15th – Quiz Night. (As this is our first of the season we will accept new memberships and renewals at the early bird price of £5.00 to this date).
Thursday October 20th – Guest Speaker – Top Sports Journalist
Thursday 17th November – AGM – Fuddle + “Show me yours” – It’s not what you think, we’re inviting members to bring along a piece of Rams or other football memorabilia, and tell us what it means to you, why is it special. could be your first football scarf or even a ticket stub, doesn’t matter how big or small, a button off Sav’s or Igor’s shirt or a turnstile from the BBG (though that might be a bit too large to bring along) 🙂
December social will be our Christmas Party, after the success we had at Littleover social last year, we are hoping that we can hold it there again. We’re trying to make sure that we get a night when players would be able to come down too.
That takes us to the end of the 2011, are dates for January to April have been set, we’re just waiting to confirm activities/guests for these dates.
A few members have asked for a renewal form to be sent out, there was a form included in the last newsletter we sent out in May, we know that things get lost (especially at my house), so we will include another renewal form with the newsletter we’re sending out at the end of August, however, if you want to make sure and get yours sooner, you can call or email Julie Taylor or me. Or, post a comment below requesting a form and we’ll email one to you.
Great to be back, look forward to seeing you all again
