Last Social Of The Season

Doesn’t time fly, it doesn’t seem 5 minutes since we had our first DCDSC social back in September last year.

Next Monday April 2nd sees the last DCDSC social for this season, we haven’t got definite guests booked, but we do have one or two guests (including an ex player or two) coming down for a meet and mingle fuddle.

The evening starts around 8.00pm with doors opening at 7.30pm. Please note that there is a committee meeting prior to the social so we would ask members not to arrive before 7.30pm

I look forward to seeing you there, we will have renewal/application forms available on the night so you can book your membership early for next season.

We have already started to book guests for next season and visits from Tommy Johnson and Roy Macfarland in the diary. Our socials are members only so make sure you renew or join.

So see you on Monday April 2nd – don’t forget it is a fuddle so bring something to share 🙂

Big thanks to all those that came to our March social, we had a great night with Phil Matthews, Gareth Davies and a quick visit from Derby County legend Nigel Callaghan.

Cally was great, he has said that he would like to come down and spend a little more time with us. So hopefully we’ll be able to set that up sometime next season.

(Here’s a pic of Gareth, Phil & Cally).

Phil and Gareth have just completed the book they talked to us on the night. About on the local rivalry between Derby and Forest, they were due to complete it the day after the postponed Forest match, so this had to put back a little until that epic match that saw Jake (He’s the Man) Buxton score the winner and for the first time in 40 years Derby did the double over Forest. What a great night, it was tinged with a little tragedy though, when Shaun Barker was injured and it looks like he will be out of action for the next 12 months. We wish him well and we’ll see if we could get him down to visit us one night – what do you think, would you like that? (post a comment below).

I just want to add a quick note of thanks to the Ladies that visited us from Age UK too. They talked with our members on various topics including, how to keep you bills down, staying warm, getting jobs around the house done.

If you have any concerns and your not sure who to contact give Age UK Derby a call, I’m sure they will be able to help, if not (as the advert used to say), they’ll know a man (or woman) who can 🙂

DCDSC Social March 5th

Our March social on Monday 5th sees a welcome return of local author, radio presenter,  journalist & DCDSC friend Phil Matthews. This time around he’s bringing his writing partner Gareth Davies along too.

Phil and Gareth are currently putting the finishing touches to a new football related book they have written. Phil is being a little coy about the content and says they will tell us more about it on the night. He’s also hinted that there may be an opportunity for our members to contribute too, the only proviso is that you have to be there on the night Monday March 5th.

This will be Phil’s third book, his previous two “Derby County –  On this Day” & “Derby County – Miscellany” are available via all good book shops as well as Amazon (for more info do a quick search on our Amazon page).

Phil and Gareth will be centre stage from around 8.00pm so make sure you get there in time. Doors open at 7.30pm, light refreshments are available and maybe a biscuit or two (feel free to bring a packet:-) )

This is our penultimate social of the season (doesn’t seem 5 minutes since we started does it?) We’ll have more information about the final social night in April (first Monday 4th April) at the meeting too, make it down and you will be the first to know.

Quick recap DCDSC March Social – Monday 5th usual place at Pride Park. Doors open 7.30pm. Members and accompanying carers only.

Season Ticket Deal

Derby County released details today of the new season ticket prices and deals available for the 2012-2013 season.

Disabled season tickets have increased slightly, but if you get in on the February 0% scheme it works out as a better deal than last season.

This is an excerpt taken form the DCFC website;

“Taking the current economic climate into consideration, a 0% interest payment plan is also on offer for season ticket holders who renew by the end of February – while all season ticket holders that renew by the end of the month will also receive a FREE Derby County replica 2011-12 shirt and a £50 retail voucher to spend in shop DCFC.”

The early bird scheme runs until April 15th but to get a 2011-12 replica shirt, plus a £50.00 voucher to spend in Shop DCFC and take advantage of the 0% interest payment plan, you must renew your season ticket by the end of  this month – February.

DCFC Awards Night Dinner

Would You Like To Go?

Derby County Supporters Executive Committee have asked us (DCDSC) how many members would be interested in going to the awards night dinner, this year it’s being held at Pride Park on Tuesday May 1st.

The event is attended by all Derby County players, management and staff. The ticket price includes admission, 2/3 course meal and disco entertainment.

At the awards event, supporters branches from around the country (in fact world), come together to celebrate the teams achievements and the players present awards to supporters that have been nominated by their branches.

Ticket price is approx £30.00 unfortunately there isn’t any concession for carers so for two tickets it would be £60.00.  Now I know this may sound a lot, but it is an opportunity to meet all the players and management get their autographs and have your photo taken with your favourite star.

So if you think you may like to go please call Julie on 01332 835979 by Sunday 12th February, so we can give them an idea of numbers.

(Here’s a picture of Will receiving his D.S.O.Y last year from Shaun Barker).

We will also be asked to nominate our player of the year so get your thinking caps on, and either post a comment here or on face book.
