Thanks to those that came and helped out on our stand at the Disability Direct “Do What You Want” Event.
We had quite a lot of interest in the DCDSC which will help in getting our name out there and letting people know we’re here.
On the day we started a raffle for a Derby County signed football, this was donated to us by Mr Harold Finch – so big thanks go to him. We sold quite a lot of tickets on the day, and we will be drawing the raffle at the DCDSC social night on Monday night November 5th –
Talking about Monday ‘s social, we’ve advertised this date since the start of the season as the Roy MacFarland night. As far as we know everything is still okay, but the problem we’ve had is we haven’t been able to contact Roy to confirm. We are trying to get definite confirmation (either way), and we will let all DCDSC Members know by phone/text.
Even if Roy can’t make it we will still be having a social night on Monday 5th November, – doors open for members at 7.30pm (Please don’t come before then, we have a meeting prior to the social which is for committee only).
We have a quiz as backup, so get your thinking caps on, free refreshments and some spooky lollies and sweets which didn’t go down quite as well as the chocolate did on Wednesday 🙂
You can see a picture of Will and me (looks like I just woke up), at the DWYW event, Dev from Coronation Street was there too, but we didn’t get to meet him. If I can get a few pictures from DD I’ll post them here.
We met some great clubs and associations tailored toward disabled people, if you’re looking for something new to do, let us know. We will be including info on various clubs, companies and organisations we met, so look out for those too.
Look forward to seeing you on Monday –
Chairman – DCDSC
Disability Direct are holding a “Do What You Want” event at the Roundhouse Derby on Wednesday 31st.
We (DCDSC) are having a stand to let local disabled people, supporters and their families about the DCDSC what we do and give them the chance to join us.
There’s lots of other organisations exhibiting there, so come along and see what else is going on in and around Derby.
As always it is members only, so if you know someone who might be interested in coming down to meet Tommy sign ’em up 🙂
Doors open at 7.30pm, light refreshments available on the night free of charge, if you want to contribute a biscuit or 2 that would be welcome.
Raffle tickets will also be available to win a signed DCFC shirt, the draw will take place at the Christmas fuddle, but as Christmas is an expensive time we thought you might want to spread out your spending a little.
At the end of October we DCDSC will have a stand at the “Do What You Want” event being held by Disability Direct, at the Roundhouse in Derby, not far from Pride Park.
Mark it in your diary and come along, I think it runs 10am -4.00pm though we will have more details about it in our next newsletter and also on the website and face book page soon.
You never know, you might find other things you’d like to do locally too, plus there will be a surprise or two. 🙂
We had a great turnout for our first DCDSC social evening of the new season.
Andy Ellis joined us from The Derby County Collection.
Andy bought in a a vast array of Derby County and associated football memorabilia, he spoke about what to look out for when collecting, how to spot a genuine photograph from a fake, this also lead to autographs, programs and their value. One he bought in was the size of an A4 piece of paper, printed on both sides in black ink, and this one alone was worth £600.00 – Andy was keen to point out that the one he was showing us was a copy (anyone would think he didn’t trust us – :-)) There were a lot of questions asked by the members, the evening ended around 10.00pm.
It was a great start to the new season, and our next social on Monday October 1st with special guest Tommy Johnson. October isn’t that far away, as with all DCDSC socials, it is members only. So if you haven’t renewed or joined us this season (thanks to all those who have). Download your application/renewal form today, join and you can meet and put your questions to Ex Rams Striker Tommy Johnson.
