Sad Day

I found out at the weekend that our former DCDSC Secretary Geoff Rhodes had passed away.

Geoff was a big contributor to the Disabled Supporters Club and held the office of Secretary for the best part of ten years.

I’ve been asked to inform everyone that his funeral will take place on at the Church in Castle Donnington on Tuesday 12th February at 12.30pm.

Geoff was presented with an award to mark his contribution to the DCDSC, since he retired from the post, he’d continued his membership and attended several social events.  He always had the best interests of Derby County and disabled supporters at heart, he was a great man and will be sorely missed – God Bless You Geoff.

Here’s a picture of Geoff receiving his award from Marc Edworthy and the Derby County Ladies Team

Christmas Fuddle

Derby County Disabled Supporters Christmas Fuddle 2012

What a fantastic night we had at our DCDSC Christmas Fuddle. As you can see from the picture above, Will is pictured here with Nigel, Mason, WIll, Jamie & Gareth, who were all phenominal. They spent time with everyone poised for photos, signed autographs, talked about their aims, ambitions, “favourite players” 🙂  The whole night was excellent.

It was the time they all spent with us that made it extra special, no aires or grace, no big egos that sometimes follow professional sportsmen around, just down to earth, friendly heros.

Our thanks also go to Rams legends, Steve Powell & Charlie Palmer as well as local authors Phil Matthews and Gareth Davis, and not forgetting our own Keith Marson (DCFC DLO).  Everyone had a great night, “the best one ever” (said a DCDSC member).

All our DCDSC Members like Will,  had their picture taken with the Nigel and the boys, photography by Andy, official DCFC photographer. These have been given as a gift to everyone.  If you were there and haven’t had your copy yet please let me know.

The evening finished with a raffle for the signed shirt, which was won on the night by Christopher Reid & his Mum Rachel, you should have heard the Whoops of delight, it was incredible, the best reaction I’ve ever had from a DCDSC raffle winner 🙂  I am hoping to get a photo, which I’ll add later.

I hope you’ve all had a good Christmas and New Year, and ready again to Roar On The Rams, especially on January 19th, when yet another Scottish manager from down the road will attempt to penetrate our Pride Park fortress.

You ready ?

“They’re coming to our Christmas Fuddle!”

These 4 Wise Men will be there at 8.00pm, so make sure you’re there by 7.30pm usual place, if you’re not sure where, email or call Julie.  You’re always asking for current team players, they don’t get much more current than Craig Bryson, Gareth Roberts, Jamie Ward and the Gaffa – Nigel Clough.

Don’t forget your cameras, autograph books and anything else you want signing.

See you all on Monday –

Just a reminder it is DCDSC Members social evening, for paid up members, carers and invited guests only. We’re hoping for a good attendance and space is limited.

5th November Social – Update

Just a quick post to let you all know what’s happening tonight at our November DCDSC Members Social night.

You’ll know that we’ve had Roy (The Legend) MacFarland booked in to come and talk to us, unfortunately we haven’t been able to get in touch with him recently, so we’re not 100% sure that he’s coming. However, we have a quiz on standby just in case, so even if Roy doesn’t make it we will still have a good night.  + we are concluding the raffle for the signed DCFC Football that we started at the DWYW event last Wednesday- Good Luck Everyone.

Look forward to seeing you later.

Tim
