Thanks for everyone that has booked to go on the tour of the new FA Centre at St George’s Park near Burton.

Below are the directions that they have on their website, they say to get off the A38 at the Branston junction which is Burton South. If you’re unsure how to get there and you’re coming from Derby, I would stay on the A38 and get off at the Barton under Needwood junction.

Go all the way through Barton village, and turn right just before an Indian Restaurant (used to be a pub stands on its own). Should be signposted St George’s Park and Byrkley Garden Centre.

Follow this road until you come to a island (New Inn pub on right), turn left at the island towards Abbots Bromley, just after the trees on your left there is a turning for St George’s Park/FA Centre – big signs you shouldn’t miss it.  If you reach the airfield with planes on your left you’ve gone too far.

Turn left into St George’s Park mind the (speed bumps), follow the road all the way, don’t turn for the hotel carry on down the drive, the FA Centre is on the left at the bottom, turn left into the car park (aim for the gap between the hotel and FA Centre), go to the bottom and turn right toward the FA, there is lots of Disabled parking right outside the FA Centre, so park as close as you want too.

The tour will start at 3.00pm – so try and get there about 2.30pm as we have to sort out tickets etc.

By car

With links to the M1, M6, M6 Toll and M42, St. George’s Park is easily accessible by car:

• A38 – 10 minutes
• M6 TOLL Junction 4 – 20 minutes
• Derby – 30 minutes
• Birmingham – 50 minutes
• Nottingham – 50 minutes
• London – 2 hours 40 minutes
• Manchester – 1 hour 40 minutes

If you are using a SAT NAV please use the postcode DE13 9PD. We are working with the council to install brown signs which are expected to be in place by the beginning of September.

If you are travelling with a group please car share where possible to minimise environmental impacts and congestion. Please be considerate to the local villages in the countryside surrounding St. George’s Park. We advise all drivers to follow the routes detailed below and not to travel through the villages, this is for your ease and convenience and their peace and quiet. When setting your GPS please avoid villages.

Travelling from Birmingham along the A38

• Take exit at the Branston junction and turn right on to the A5121 Wellington Road.
• Continue on the A5121 for approximately 1km before taking the second exit (Parkway) at the roundabout by Morrisons.
• Follow Parkway for approximately 1.6km and then turn left at the roundabout with the B5017 (Shobnall Road).
• Follow the B5017 for approximately 6km and then take the second exit (B5234) at the roundabout by New Inn.
• Continue for approximately 500m and the site entrance is on the left.

Directions from the A38 from Derby

• Take the exit at the Branston junction and turn left on to the A5121 Wellington Road.
• The directions are then the same as above.

An evening with the Rams CEO Sam Rush

Your chance for a question and Answer session with Rams CEO Sam Rush. Sam will be touring the county stopping off at Proud Partner Marston’s Pedigree pubs to take questions from Rams fans.

After all the issues surrounding season tickets recently, I was told by some DCDSC members that they would have liked to speak to the CEO of Derby County Sam Rush, and ask him a question personally.  Well now you can.

Mr Rush is our guest speaker at our March DCDSC Social this coming Monday, March 4th.

He’s eager to come and meet us, and it was his suggestion that we held more of a Q&A session, though I’m hoping he will talk about his life and times in rugby, and what bought him to Derby.

The social is (as always) a members (with carer) event, so if you haven’t been for a while bring along your membership card.

Usual time, doors open at 7.30pm.  Usual place, PL @ PP. We’ll be looking to start around 8.00pm.

Light refreshments provided, if you want to bring a packet of biccy’s (is it “y or ie”)? To share that would be great. I look forward to seeing you on Monday night, one last thought – “Play nice”
